The challenge
In November 2022, the New Zealand Government announced a subsidy to help small retail businesses install fog cannons. The aim was to reduce the risk of aggravated robberies and ram raids.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) was asked to deliver the Fog Cannon Subsidy Scheme, with applications needing to open by 1 February 2023. The timeframe was tight. MBIE needed to build a secure, easy-to-use online service that could handle high demand, meet Government standards and go live in only 7 working weeks.
The solution
MBIE partnered with the FormBuilder team to design and launch the service at speed. Using FormBuilder MBIE could prototype the application form in days and test it with retailers.
They also launched a pre-registration form to understand demand. FormBuilder made it easy to build a secure, scalable application service that linked directly to Business Connect’s case-management tools.
