The challenge
When Immigration NZ launched the Active Investor Plus (AIP) Visa Scheme in late 2022, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) took on a critical role. They needed to assess and confirm which direct investments were eligible, and help connect investor migrants with New Zealand businesses seeking capital.
But the process was slow and difficult. Applications were manual and complex, and staff had to spend a lot of time checking information and following up with businesses.
Repeated communication, inconsistent data, and high administration made it clear that the system needed to change.
The solution
NZTE partnered with FormBuilder to build a digital application service using the free, government-funded FormBuilder platform.
This allowed NZTE to design and launch a guided, easy-to-use application form, hosted on the Business Connect platform. The form connected smoothly with internal systems.
