The challenge
Kānoa – Regional Economic Development and Investment Unit needed an easier way for organisations and businesses for funding. Their old process used PDF forms sent by email, and staff had to enter data manually into their systems.
Kānoa came to us wanting a faster, and more efficient way to deliver their services online. They wanted a better experience for applicants and a more streamlined process for their team, including for reporting.
The response
We worked with Kānoa to create the Regional Infrastructure Form (RIF). The new form is online, built with FormBuilder, and hosted Business Connect.
To support their workflow, we built an Application Programming Interface (API) that sends information from the form straight into their systems. This removed manual data entry and created a setup they can reuse for other services.
We also helped Kānoa learn how to use FormBuilder. Their team can now design and build forms on their own. We still support them with reviews, publishing, and any new features they want to explore.
Since their first form in 2023, Kānoa has grown to build their own forms and now have 11 services live using FormBuilder. This has made their work easier and has improved the experience for customers.

The new online process is simple for businesses and for the Kānoa team. The end‑to‑end setup means:

- faster processing
- better quality data for reporting and insights.
Applicants can sign in with RealMe and reuse information they have saved. This reduces repeat steps and lets them return to their application at any time.
